Quantum Consciousness

One of the most exciting things about living today is the way in which science has come full circle. Unlike the past where science and spirituality were uncomfortable bedfellows, cosmologists of today have come a long way around to the concepts that have been held by indigenous people forever. So why should we in the spiritual community concern ourselves with 'reinventing the wheel"? Much of the understanding that has been passed down to us has been in code: metaphor, in fact. There was a good reason for this. During the bad old days of the christian ascendancy, topped off by the inquisition and witch burnings, those who were the holders of truth had a sacred duty to make sure that these truth were not destroyed completely, thus avoiding a complete descent into total darkness (read unenlightenedness).  So, ways were devised to disguise the truth amongst ritual and metaphor so that the church and others, opposed to power being distributed through the masses, could not find them. Wisdom from the ages became a thing of memory, and triggers were developed to stimulate the initiate into remembering without it being written down. Ritual, poems, signs, tarot cards, and symbols all formed part of this code.

However, as many written texts of history during those times were composed by monks, a pro-christian slant was put on all kinds of things, and many of the truths became so obscure as to render them unintelligible. They linked indigenous (pagan) stories, designed to reveal hidden truth, to activity of saints and co-opted rituals and celebration days into holy days dedicated to the church. The legends of King Arthur and the Holy Grail fit into this category.

As the centuries have ticked by, many of these writings have been adopted innocently by those who would follow the ancient ways. The Western Mystery Traditions all have large smatterings of christianity intermingled throughout their doctrines. It is therefore hard for someone who wants to go deeper into the knowledge that has been held in trust for us by the Ancients to decipher truth from overlays of caution and propaganda. We have turned to other indigenous people’s knowledge to augment our own and this has been both good and bad. Good because their Ancestors have passed down truths that can be held up against our own in the West for verification. Bad because so many of us have tried to take on their ways and become them rather than keep searching for what our Elders have left for us.

What has this got to do with science?? Everything! All truth is expressed in metaphor. That is because it is too big to be able to be understood in any other way. Science is also a metaphor. Just as we can verify some truths by holding them against wisdom passed down from other people’s traditions, science is verifiable by another metaphor known as mathematics. Put the verified findings of quantum physics up against indigenous beliefs and our own findings and you have a three-way verification of spiritual truth.

Why do we need verification?? Shouldn’t we just trust? Trust is a very important part of spiritual life, but what we trust is more important. We must all to find information validated by our own feelings. Trusting what others say is dangerous. The more cross referencing we do, the more the truth becomes clear and THAT we can trust. It’s like taking bearings with a compass to calculate where we are.

Quantum physics and general relativity have opened up so much information about the creation of our world, and the shape of our reality that it has spotlighted the word ‘God’ in our vocabulary. Hard nosed physicists now have a belief in the divinity of life through their own experiments, and their own experience. Unfortunately, the vast majority of us never get to hear about it. Nor could most of us understand the physics. So, over the upcoming issues of this magazine, I will be taking us though the basics of the quantum world and how it verifies Truth and why it is a ‘must know’ for people seriously interested in the evolution of consciousness. And that’s what we are all here for, whether we are simply allowing ourselves to participate in the time/space continuum (linear time) or actively seeking to understand life and how we fit into it. Don’t worry. It won’t be ‘above your head’.  If I can understand it, anyone can. So join me each month on this fascinating journey of discovery.
